Fitzimons Promenade is the planned development on the southeast corner of Colfax and Peoria that will replace the abandoned Safeway. Too bad this drawing was made EIGHT YEARS AGO and nothing has happened since.
The building in the background is Cedar Crest Condos. In the drawing above it doesn't look too bad, but it is a truly hideous decaying building that should be condemned. (But where else can you buy a condo in Aurora for $32,000?) But it won't be, and instead will continue to depress the surrounding area. I think a developer would have to buy out the building in order to continue with the development. But that won't be so easy now, because it is condos, and the unit owners will demand an exorbitant price to leave.
So there sits the decaying abandoned Safeway building, probably forever.
